JOB FUNCTIONS
• To develop the software for PC based applications to fulfil the objectives laid down in the company's development plan, ensuring that quality, cost and time milestones are met. Special emphasis will be placed on projects that assist the Applications team with specific end customer requirements.
• To design to specification for particular customer applications and to assist in application projects.
• To produce engineering documentation such that peer group reviews can occur and to enable continuity for future project maintenance.
• To ensure that all designs are of high quality and repeatability and are documented for ISO9001 purposes.
• Advises his or her Manager of any improvements, conflicts of interest or inefficiencies pertaining to Development activities.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE

Essential
• 2+ Years experience of C# .Net 3.5, SQL Server
• Degree in Computer Science or related discipline is desirable
• Experience of Visual Studio 2008
• Experience of writing Desktop Application Software
• Experience with issue management and source control tools
• Experience of OO-Design
• Experience of GUI Design / implementation
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail

Desirable
• Experience WPF, WCF, Lua scripting, SqLite, VB, VB.Net and LINQ are desirable
• Experience developing web based applications
• Understanding Socket and Serial based communications
• Experience / knowledge of GPS
• Design Patterns and Unit testing

Responsibilities
• Design and implementation of application software to a high standard and within the deadlines set out by the development plan
• Document solutions and track development using issue management software and source control systems
• Support and enhance existing desktop software and web based software
• Report to Senior Applications Software Engineer or one of the team as appropriate
• Working on highly visible customer facing tools that will directly impact sales
